Hi friends,
If you’ve followed my work for a while, you know I’ve spent the better part of the last decade in the trenches of cultural and political commentary—writing columns, chasing stories, offering perspectives I still stand by. That won’t change. I haven’t renounced my convictions, and I’m not here to pretend I never held them.
But over the past few years—well, the last year, if I’m being honest—something shifted. I told myself when I was a kid that someday I’d be a novelist. And then life happened, and I found outlets for my ardent opinions about how the world should work, and that seemed like the best way to make a difference. I pushed that dream of writing fiction down deep.
When I wrote that first chapter of Liminal Wake, the power of storytelling came flooding back. Stories can shape the imagination in ways X posts and online essays never can. And in an age where narratives are currency, I want to invest mine in the long game.
So, this Substack is evolving, and my writing elsewhere will shift, too. You’ll still hear from me, but not as a cut-from-the-cloth political pundit. Instead, I’ll be sharing takes on pop culture and fiction, behind-the-scenes glimpses into the worlds of my books, and commentary on the themes that animate my work: belief, identity, resistance, and the systems that shape us. If you’re interested in grounded sci-fi thrillers with depth and tension—and the cultural forces they engage with—I hope you’ll stick around.
Thanks for reading, thanks for your support, and most of all, thanks for caring about stories. In the bizarre and rapidly evolving world we find ourselves in, they matter more than ever.
